Privacy Policy for 20xd6.ddns.net

Pretty simple. I have the logs (i assume, I don't really know). I probably won't look at them unless something is going terribly wrong. Or I'm bored. What can I say? You will have to give me an E-mail to use this service. A few points about this.

  • This email is used to do things like password resets. It is also used to alert you of account sign-ins. Wouldn't you like to know if someone else signed into your account.
  • This is a private Chat service. If you don't know me, you don't belong here in the first place.
  • Email is currently the only way to sign up for this service.

On the subject of email, the email used by the system and the admin, 20xd6@airmail.cc, is hosted by cock.li. This means that invitation email, any email communication with the site admin, password reset email, and user notification emails, will all pass through the servers at cock.li. The ToS and privacy policy for their service are found at these links.

Further, this service uses the bouncer service provided by the Zulip maintainers. This allows for push notifications to the Zulip Mobile apps without maintaing seperate copies of these apps. As the Zulip project points out even doing this would only prevent the bouncer service from seeing the messages as neither Google or Apple allow apps to receive push notifications from unknown servers. Using the bouncer service also allows for a small degree of anonymity by having our traffic mixed with the traffic of the other servers.

Use of Zulip's bouncer does place use of this server under their ToS and it's use is an agreement to those terms. In the strictest terms this doesn't matter because in the current setup the contents of the notification are redacted as discribed here. The ToS of this service with be the final arbitrator. I will turn off push notifications if Zulip makes an issue out of it or is found to be spying on message content.

Anyone who bothers to follow the above links to Zulip documentation may have notised that by default the use of push notifications also turns on the submitting of server statistics. This setting has been set to False and statistics are not being submitted to any other party.

If you don't agree with this policy, to bad. Contact me at 20xd6@airmail.cc if you want to yell at me about it.
